Setup guide

Set up Quinn in less than 10 minutes.

Eight short steps, one video each, from an empty video library to a shoppable widget live on your storefront. Nothing here needs theme code, and you can stop and come back at any point — everything you save stays saved.

Stuck anywhere? Talk to a human.

We would rather set it up with you than have you guess. Reach out at any point in this guide — usually a few minutes for a reply, and there is no bot in between.

The eight steps
  1. Add your videos
  2. Tag products
  3. Create a video page
  4. Choose where it appears
  5. Add more videos later
  6. Publish it on your store
  7. Pick a design
  8. Fine-tune the settings

Add your videos to the library

In Shopify admin: Quinn Shoppable Reel → Video Library → Add videos

The video library is the one place every video lives. Drag files into the drop zone or click Add files — MP4, MOV and WebM are accepted, up to 120 seconds each. If your content is already on social, switch to the Instagram or TikTok tab and import by link instead of downloading and re-uploading.

Tick the rights confirmation at the bottom, then hit Save. Each upload is compressed with our AI encoder before it ever reaches a shopper, so a heavy 4K file will not cost you page speed.

Uploading two videos from a device, confirming rights, and saving to the library.
Good to know: the counter beside the checkbox shows how many videos are left on your plan. Upload in batches — you can select several files at once.

Tag products so the video is shoppable

In Shopify admin: Video Library → Attach products on any video card

A video without products is just a video. Tagging is what turns it into a storefront that sells: the products you attach become the tappable buttons a shopper uses to add to cart or check out without leaving the clip.

Choose Attach products on a card, search your catalogue or filter it, tick everything featured in that video, and add. You can attach more than one product — useful for a styled look or a bundle — and reorder them so the hero product sits first.

Attaching three products to a video from the product picker.
Worth doing now: tag everything as you upload. Later on you can find any clip by typing a product name into the library search, which only works on videos that carry tags.

Create a video page

In Shopify admin: Video Pages → Add videos to a new page

A video page is a playlist plus a placement: the videos you want shown, in the order you want them, on the pages you choose. Start by picking a widget style — this is how the playlist looks on your storefront.

  • Carousel — a scrollable row of video tiles, the default for product and home pages.
  • Stories — tappable circles that open full screen, just like Instagram stories.
  • Floating — a small bubble that follows the shopper as they scroll.

Then scroll down, tick the videos you want in the playlist, and Save. One page can hold several widgets, so a product page can carry a carousel and a floating bubble at the same time.

Creating the first video page: choosing a widget style, a placement, then videos.

Choose exactly where it appears

On the same screen: Where should it appear?

Placement is the difference between a widget that converts and one nobody sees. You can target:

  • Homepage, or on all pages across the whole store.
  • All product pages — every product, automatically, including ones you add later.
  • One or more product pages — pick specific products, which is how you pin a product's own video to its own page.
  • All collection pages, or specific collections.
  • Other pages — blogs, articles and custom pages.
Targeting specific product pages and picking the products the widget should show on.
One rule to remember: each page supports one widget of each type. If a carousel already exists on a page you select, that placement will not save — either edit the existing widget or choose a different style for the new one.

Add more videos to an existing playlist

In Shopify admin: Video Pages → open a page → Add videos to playlist

Playlists are meant to keep growing. Open a video page, choose the widget tab you want to change — carousel, story or floating — then Add videos to playlist, tick the new clips, and save.

Once they are in, the card grid is where you curate: drag a card to reorder, use the eye button to hide a video without deleting it, and the bin to remove it from the playlist. Prefer not to curate by hand? AI Optimise reorders the playlist automatically so your best performing videos play first.

Publish it on your storefront

In Shopify admin: Online Store → Themes → Customise

The last piece is telling your theme where the widget sits. In the theme customiser, open the page you targeted, choose Add block in the section you want, and pick the Quinn block — it appears under your apps. Drag it up or down until it sits where you want it, and Save.

The block panel on the right carries the layout controls: background colour, and margin and padding for desktop and mobile separately, each written as top right bottom left. This is a theme app block, so nothing is written into your theme code and removing it is a single click.

Adding the Quinn carousel block in the theme customiser, positioning it, and saving.
If nothing shows up: check the widget's Live toggle inside the app — a widget that is saved but not live stays hidden from customers.

Pick a design that matches your store

In Shopify admin: Quinn Shoppable Reel → Customise Design

Every widget type has its own set of designs, with separate desktop and mobile previews and the tile dimensions written under each one. Browse the tabs — carousel, story, floating, overlay — and see which layout suits the density of your page.

Customise opens a design for editing; Use this design switches to it. The design marked In use is what customers see right now. Want something specific that is not in the list? Request a design and we will build it for you.

Comparing carousel designs and switching the store over to a new one.
This applies store-wide: switching a design changes every widget of that type, and new widgets start from it too. Give it a minute or two to reach shoppers.

Fine-tune the settings

In Shopify admin: Quinn Shoppable Reel → Settings

Settings are grouped by widget type — carousel, floating, overlay, stories — plus a general tab. The ones worth setting on day one:

  • Show on — desktop, mobile, or both, per widget type.
  • Show only first product price and only first variant price — keeps the tile clean when a video carries several products or variants.
  • Mute audio by default — worth leaving on, since Safari mutes autoplaying video regardless.
  • Story swipe direction — horizontal or vertical, depending on what your shoppers expect.
  • Show selected variant image in overlay — swaps the product image to match the variant a shopper picks.
  • Floating widget shape and offsets — circle or rectangle, with pixel offsets from the side and bottom, and a live preview so you can see it before saving.

After setup: watch what it earns

Once a widget is live, Analytics inside the app tracks views, taps, add-to-carts and orders, with revenue attributed at both page and media level. That is how you find out which video deserves a bigger placement — and which one to quietly retire.

Common questions

How long does setup take?

Less than 10 minutes end to end. Uploading and tagging takes the longest; everything after that is a few clicks.

Do I need to edit my theme code?

No. Quinn is added as a theme app block from the Shopify theme customiser — you drag it where you want it and save. Nothing is written into your theme files, and removing it is one click.

My widget isn't showing on the storefront. Why?

Usually one of three things: the widget toggle is not set to Live, the app block has not been added and saved in the theme customiser, or another widget of the same type already exists on that page. Each page supports one widget of each type.

Can I use my Instagram reels and TikToks?

Yes. On the Add videos screen switch to the Instagram or TikTok tab and import by link — no downloading and re-uploading.

What video formats and lengths are supported?

MP4, MOV and WebM, up to 120 seconds per video.

Will videos slow my store down?

No. Every upload is compressed up to 20× by our AI encoder, served from a CDN and lazy-loaded, so the impact on page speed is close to zero. More on that in video compression.

If I change the design, does it affect widgets I already created?

Yes. Choosing a design switches every widget of that type and becomes the starting point for new ones. It can take a minute or two for shoppers to see the change.
